Particular touchy for me since I’m based in a region where IVPN has only two performant nearby server locations.

IVPN OPEN SOURCE PRO

I’d wager most of them already know of IVPN since it’s usually recommended alongside Mullvad (New York Times, Privacy Guides, etc), but were put off by the higher price of the Pro Plan. I hope all the abusers don’t jump ship to IVPN en masse or I’ll eventually be dealing with similar issues. Even niche Linux distro forums didn’t let me login from Mullvad IPs.

IVPN OPEN SOURCE FULL

Hardly torrent these days and didn’t even bother setting up port forwarding after my last OS reinstall, so this change wouldn’t impact me all that much had I stayed with them, but the reason I switched to IVPN full time was because Mullvad’s IP were getting blacklisted by everyone and their dogs.

I'd easily purchase a 1 year subscription to IVPN pro if there was a commitment that we could expect port forwarding to work for the next year.įunnily enough, I just moved to a full IVPN Pro plan (previously only Standard) after my Mullvad credit ended. I hope you understand my concern, there's been a dearth of cloud services changing terms lately and it's causing considerable stress to manage what should be a set-and-forget solution. "No changed planned for port forwarding at this time" <- would it be possible to say something a little more definitive, like "we commit to keeping it running for the next x months/years" - I know it's a huge ask, but if I go to the trouble of moving to your service, it would be nice to have some assurances that you won't just follow suit in July, leaving all your new subscribers holding the bag. My usage will be p2p, but there are a ton of valid uses p2p, not just piracy, and there's a huge benefit to being connectable over p2p while wanting some anonymity in the process. Hello, I'm considering moving to IVPN from mullvad specifically because of port forwarding. If IVPN removes port forwarding, I will jump ship again.Īlso torrenting, but that's not really my use case for port forwarding.Įdit: Also forgot to mention my ISP only allows proprietary routers and restricts port forwarding in general now (can't even do it on site - have to ask permission), and VPNs eliminate this problem. Starting next week I will be leaving Mullvad for IVPN to minimize the downtime of these important services. Nothing I'm doing is even remotely illegal, but I don't have patience any longer dealing with ISPs who clearly log what services I'm hosting for my family. Also my ISP likes to snoop on my incoming traffic and tell me what I can and cannot use my own internet for - when I'm paying for it. Other things my family and others need, and it is not an option to expose my "real" IP address to host these services, not to mention concerns of ISP spying. Almost my entire experience around the usage of port forwarding is the hosting of servers/services.
